ROWING

Tech has been home to a rowing team off and on for 50 years, and is currently sponsored by the East Bay Rowing Club and USRowing “America Rows” program. Rowing is the ultimate team sport. Rowing exercises more muscle groups and is more aerobic than any other sport and is excellent for achieving peak physical fitness. It exercises not only the body, but also the mind. While rowing, you will not only work hard, we guarantee you will have fun and develop school pride, personal confidence, teamwork, and lasting friendships.

Practices: 1 day a week after school at OT for land work, 2-3 days a week after school plus Saturday mornings on the water at the Jack London Aquatic Center in downtown Oakland. Students either take the bus, drive, or bike to practices.

Seasons: Fall runs August through mid-December, Spring runs January through mid-June.

Regattas: Are held throughout Northern California on the weekends, plus a travel trip in the spring for the West Coast Scholastic Championship.

Tryouts: All interested students are welcome to join the team — no experience necessary. Scholarships are available.
